Nduara Loliondo is run by Nomad Tanzania who have camps and lodges all over Tanzania. This is one of their less commercial products; located outside the Serengeti Border in the Loliondo area, where you get game and also a cultural aspect - this is the land of the Masaai. We love the style of ‘yurt’ tents and opportunity to take long walking safaris in the wilderness.
Nduara Loliondo - The Facts
Nduara Loliondo is located in the Loliondo game controlled area just to the east of the
Serengeti National Park. The camp moves from north to south at different times of the year to track the migrational herds that spill into this area, normally from late November on they push down from the north. The camp is best accessed by Lobo airstrip when the camp is in the north and Ndutu when the camp is located in the south.
The camp is unique in that the tents are in the style of Mongolian Yurts, with an extension for the en suite bathroom. The tents are very spacious and staggered on the side of the hills, with views onto the open valleys and in the distance you can see Masaai herdsman walking with their cattle. The main camp area is in some larger circular yurts, split out between a dining tent and a lounge tent, with comfortable cushions and books to read.
The guest tents are in the same Mongolian Yurt design split out either side of the main camp area, with vistas onto the hills and wide valleys of Loliondo.
As Nduara is located outside the Serengeti there are less rules and regulations, allowing guests to enjoy prolonged walking
Serengeti safaris - normally climbing a hill in time for sunset and enjoying a well deserved drink by a camp fire. As this an area where the Masaai rear their cattle, it is also possible on request to visit a boma or small village. Nomad also organizes night game drives which can give you a very different angle on the nocturnal activity.
