Grumeti Serengeti is located in the west of the Serengeti and is best accessed by light aircraft on one of the schedule flights in North Tanzania. The lodge has its own airstrip minutes away. The area is best located from May to early July however the resident game in this
safari area is good all year around.
The luxury lodge is split into a main area and the tented accommodation area along the Grumeti River. The tented accommodation is split into 10 luxury en suite tents raised on wooden platforms along the bank of the river.
The main area of the lodge is very open and well kept with a small lawn going down towards the river where there are always a few resident hippos cooling off in the water. There is a ‘boma’ where evening meals and taken as well as a large pizza oven.
The Migration normally passes through this area from Late May to early July, the herds do cross the Grumeti River however its is important to note this is not the spectacular river crossings, these happen later in the year in the North of the Serengeti in the Kogatende area.
Serengeti Safari is only special here for a small window every year.
