Ras Nungwi was AMAZING, it really was paradise and we were well looked after. Again the food, staff and accommodation was fantastic.
One of my favorite hotel stays anywhere. I'd go back in a second. We loved Zanzibar and Ras Nungwi is the perfect combination of style and service without ever being stuffy.
Ras Nungwi again was wonderful, the people there were amazing and again we made some good friends and totally chilled out.
1st 3 nights at Ras Nungwi on Zanzibar. Long trip across the island to get there, but very much worth it. Upgraded to our own house with private beach and swimming pool and a bottle of champers for our Honeymoon. Great food, fantastic staff, internet too. A sunset boat trip is highly recommended.
Having spent time in the Serengeti on Safari we were ready for 7 nights of relaxation on Zanzibar to complete our honeymoon.
The team at Ras Nungwi delivered a superb level of service in the most beautiful of traditional-feeling environments to show-case what Zanzibar and East Africa has to offer.
We stayed a couple of nights in a Superior Deluxe chalet right down on the beach-front, which was lovely and offered peace and tranquillity except the relaxing "swoosh" of the Indian Ocean lapping at the shore.
This was followed by rounding-up our stay for a few nights in the awesome Ocean Suite..!! True luxury with its own private beach, plunge pool and terrace, large 200sqmt interior and to ensure all-day sun-soaking possibilities a massive roof-top terrace hosting sun-loungers, day-beds, sofas and hammock (some out in the sun and others under the shade of the thatch)
The staff played a massive part in making this the perfect experience and they couldn't have been more attentive or friendly. Management showed true understanding of customer focus and regularly spent time circulating amongst guests in a friendly manner to ensure all requirements were taken care of.The food was authentic and show-cased the fine seafood available in Zanzibar whilst ensuring a good coverage for those not wanting the seafood and using good variety of fruits and vegetables available.
For those wanting to take part in the superb Diving and Big-Game Fishing opportunities available in Zanzibar, the hotel also incorporates the Zanzibar Watersports centre who can cater for most needs. On this occasion after the Safari, we were happy to soak up the tranquillity and relax without using these facilities though.
My wife and I would like to truly thank the Ras Nungwi team for helping make our honeymoon (and my wife's Birthday celebrated while we were there) a perfect experience and we'd gladly return again in the future..!! I'd recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Zanzibar.
The Ras Nungwi Beach Hotel was excellent. The Ocean Suite was everything I hoped it would be and more. The best suite I have ever stayed in.
We kept a few postcards that we got at this resort and use them as bookmarks for the current book we are usually reading. They are just a few pictures of this resort, but every time I open my book I have a positive memory of our time at Ras Nungwi. This was after a week of safari, so we were ready to relax and do our "beach time" for part of our honeymoon. We went scuba diving, took a few trips into the local town and in general enjoyed hanging out and enjoying the clear waters and friendly staff/service. If you are a scuba diver, we felt very comfortable with the guides located at the resort for our diving excursion and the only thing we would say is don't forget bottled water (we did). Last but not least, the resort set up a special beach side meal for us one evening which was yet another thing my wife thought I planned but didn't! We would recommend coupling this stop with a safari if you can make it work, it complimented the safari portion of our tour well.
Zanzibar- ras nungwi was good. Great food, beach and people. We relaxed a lot.
Driving through the island, walking through Nungwi village and Stone Town added to the experience - observing a broader part of the country than is obvious in the very nice bush camps.
Ras Nungwi: in Zanzibar was really nice. We had lovely huts overlooking the sea. The food is really good. It is big compared to the camps but not an enormous impersonal hotel. The watersport place is brilliant but expensive. We went diving which was fantastic but we decided to skip the dhow sunset cruise as it was going to cost so much for 5 of us. The swimming in the sea is lovely: beautiful turquoise milky warm water. It was bliss! They have a nice pool too and a spa but the nicest thing is to lie in a hammock under a palm tree and watch the dhows go by.
Ras Nungwi– Obviously a lot bigger than Echo Beach and less personal service but despite the size we really did like it there as the food was really nice and it was just a bit of a relief after the fawly towers experience we had just had. The beach was so stunning. It really was a fantastic way to end the honeymoon
We spent the second part of our holiday on Zanzibar, Ras Nungwi. Here again, all went very well, we were collected at the airport and brought to the taxi driver who took us to Ras Nungwi. Very nice hotel, lovely African touch with the thatched roofs, very nice rooms and lovely little terraces. We had a great bungalow and a fantastic view of the Indian Ocean. The colour of the sea was breath-taking, beach was fine, service good and staff very friendly. However, the food was a real letdown. The ingredients used were not fresh and dishes rather bland and simply not corresponding to what you would expect of this kind of hotel. Unfortunately, there was no other restaurant or hotel nearby to provide some change. Nevertheless, it was a lovely and very relaxing stay.
