We do like Kasha and there are aspects of it which make it worth the money, but only as long as you are aware there is literally no beach. It is extremely tidal, so when it is up you are confined to the lodge. The rooms are excellent though and you can enjoy the luxuries of air-conditioning, private plunge pools and television. The service has been rocky at times but a 3 night stop here at the start of your trip can be worthwhile if taking advantage of their frequent offers and making full use of the rooms.
Hotel Kasha - The Facts
Kasha is located on the north east coast of
Zanzibar, overlooking the Mnemba Atoll. It is only an hour’s drive from Stone Town and about 10 minutes to Nungwi on the north of the island.
The main area is split into two bits. Up at the entrance of the lodge, there is a reception and curio area with sofas and ornaments, all covered by an enormous and very high Makuti roof, continuing through towards the beach is the restaurant, still under the same roof and about 100 yards away from the coastline.
The other main area is the pool and pool bar which is located about 70 yards from the entrance, joined by an uncovered walkway.
The rooms are split into two levels, with one row behind another, and six on one side of the property and five on the other. The rooms which are not ocean front do have a view of the sea between the gap of the front room. The rooms are huge, with large open bedrooms and bathrooms. The large beds draped with a mosquito net, his and hers sinks and massive living area make inside very homely, whilst the outdoor area with a plunge pool, sun loungers, cushions and shaded veranda make for a typical tropical experience with exceptional views. The perfect lodge for
honeymooners.
Due to the lack of beach, there is no activities centre, but all activities can be outsourced.
