Seyyida belongs to the same family as Kono Kono and Kasha, which are all under the same umbrella. Sadly it has also inherited the rather unfortunate traits that the two beach lodges suffer, which is a lack in consistency and service. The location is lovely, overlooking the harbour. The rooms are very spacious and the hotel has good facilities and finishing to the main area. But it’s very touch and go when staying here so definitely consider something more reliable like the Serena Inn, Beyt Al Chai or the Zanzibar Palace.
Seyyida Hotel Zanzibar - The Facts
Seyyida is located in the northern region of Stone Town, set about 100 yards back from the coast. The Forodhani gardens are to its left and the House of Wonders is just in front of it. The airport is only 15 minutes away.
The entrance to the hotel stands out from the rather shabby streets of
Stone Town. It is very modern and the receptions, hallways and staircases are littered with foliage and plants. It’s actually very attractive and the modern interior makes for a welcome break from the rest of Stone Town. The communal area is on the top floor, about 4 storeys up with amazing views out over the ocean and harbour. The bar and living area is covered and the restaurant and dining area sticks out towards the sea, and this is completely open.
The 17 rooms are all very nice indeed. The beds are large; there are high mosquito nets, air-conditioning, TV’s and lovely modern bathrooms. The rooms all have different views. Some look out towards the ocean and others back onto Stone Town itself.
All Stone Town tours can be arranged from the reception, such as history tours, market visits, dolphin trips, excursions to prison island, spice tours and works well after a
Tanzania beach break.
