Kigelia had to be the highlight of our trip, such a wild camp and we just saw such incredible game. 4 leopards in one day! It just made the honeymoon so special especially as I have a bit of an obsession with leopards! The guides were so knowledgeable... definite 10 out of 10
Really enjoyed Kigelia as part of an all Nomad jaunt around Tanzania and as expected it was superb. I always use Nomad in Tanzania as they are just so good all round.
Again, great hosts and an excellent guide in Jo. A little bit more basic because it's tented, although still very much luxurious. Very tasty food and great company (other guests) made every night special. Great experience to lie in bed and hear the lions roar and then also seeing lots of them from very close up, as well as a Leopard, which was definitely our highlight! We'd defnitely go back again if we could, but maybe wait a little longer for all the dry grass to die down to see even more..!
Kigelia - 5 out of 5! We were worried that Kigelia might be a bit lacking in the luxuries we enjoyed at Sand Rivers, but they blew us away. Everything was thought of. When we first landed, we met our guide Elisante, who didn't speak quite as good English as Promise. On the way to the camp, we saw more cars than we saw probably the entire time we were at Selous. The park wasn't as pretty, so I was a little apprehensive. However, the guide soon brought us to a pack of wild dogs, which we did not expect to see in Ruaha. And when we finally got to camp, we thought it seemed much nicer than any of the pictures we had seen. The tents were wonderful and gave a great view of the surroundings. Each tent was very private with a nice little sitting area outside. Despite having no running sink water, we found the bathroom situation to be even better than Sand Rivers. The bucket showers were always warm when they delivered us our fire-heated water (which also had a nice smoky aroma - we figured it must be what it feels like to shower in scotch!). The toilets flushed reliably as well. The location of the tents along the dry sandy riverbed were ideal for elephant sightings. They fed on the trees right next to our room in the middle of the first 2 nights. The food was always great and the staff were excellent. We never wanted for anything. They had a nightly campfire where we could eat our appetizers and socialize with the other visitors. While we didn't think Elisante was quite as great of a guide as Promise, he grew on us a lot over the 4 days and we were sad to part with the Kigelia team.
