Kinasi Lodge - The Facts
Kinasi is located on an amazingly quiet beach overlooking Chole Bay, of
Mafia Island.
Mafia Island is a 30 minute flight from Dar es Salaam and Kinasi is 20 minute drive from the airport.
Kinasi is lucky enough to be located on a steep hillside which allows for a cooling breeze to pass through the lodge and rooms. This elevation also gives good height for scenic views of the ocean and Chole Bay. There is a large bar in the main area, sofas, armchairs, a library and games zone with chess and cards.
The owners have an acquired attention to detail with a strong eye for comfort and artisan style throughout. The sitting room and bar area is open-sided and with comfortable furnishing, complete with cushions, magazines and a reference library for all local interest.
The gardens are beautiful and the pool is well designed with a poolside barbeque and bar. A stay at Kinasi is based around their various fleet of boats, which include a 85 horse power game fishing and diving boat, a number of traditional lateen sailing dhows and a two smaller dive boats. The beach at Kinasi is as good as it gets on the island and therefore quite enjoyable. Days tend to be spent out exploring the pristine waters, islands and sandbanks.
Kinasi has an exquisite kitchen with great cooking. They prepare lavish meals and extravagant picnic lunches, with especially excellent seafood and homemade breads, yogurts and a variety of soups.
There are 14 rooms at Kinasi Lodge. Of them, five are sea front and 7 are garden view but the rooms are all of a similar layout and design. If you're after a great diving base on your

There are many activities like windsurfing, diving, snorkelling, kayaking, canoeing and fishing. They have an on site tour guide too who will happily take you on a very interesting walk around the local village!
